Can OEM Brake Controller on 2011 Ford F-350 be Used with Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator
Question:
Converting my 36CKTS to electric over hydraulic brake controller. So Im reading one of your excellent responses to another reader about converting to electric over hydraulic brakes, and you have given a detailed list of parts required, both drum and disc. Question, would my factory brake controller on my 2011 Ford F350 work, or would I need to go to the Tekonsha controller? Thanks!

The OEM controller in your 2011 Ford F-350 is actually very similar to the Tekonsha Prodigy brake controllers so you wouldn't need to add an aftermarket controller unless you absolutely wanted to. There should be a setting for electric over hydraulic (EOH) brakes that you choose for this. If you do decide to use an aftermarket then I highly recommend the Prodigy P2 # 90885 because you will already be somewhat familiar with how to use it. All you need to complete the installation is the Adapter # 3034-P which plugs into the connector located behind your dash (see attached installation instructions for the adapter).
For your Cedar Creek 36CKTS I recommend using the HydraStar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator Kit # HBA-10-252-82 with the Dexter Hydraulic Trailer Brake Kit # 23-342-343 (one for each axle) if you want drum brakes or the HydraStar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator Kit # HBA16-252-82 with the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2HR79E (one for each axle) for a disc brake setup. The HydraStar EOH actuators are some of the most reliable out there which is why I recommend going with them.
The kits I referenced above come with the brake lines and a breakaway battery kit as well as the HydraStar actuator so the only other thing that you need is a 7-Way like what comes with the Wiring Kit # HS381-9000 if you need to replace your current one or simply want an easier way to make all of your connections.
I have attached some videos for each product that you can check out.
