Recommended 3500-lb E-Z Lube Axle with Electric Brakes for 2005 Jayco Eagle 12

Question:

What Im trying to accomplish all at once: -electric brakes -easy lube spindles -higher ride height -accommodate a larger tire. Current 20.5x8 on a 10inch wheel, 20.4inch over all diameter, Id like to go with a 185/80DR13, mostly because I have two brand new tires for this AM1ST79. 24.4inch overall diameter. What is the recommended axle, brakes, spindles hopefully comes as one. Do you have a kit to mount it in a flip or even a lift for this axle combo? I understand the switch of tires might be the trickiest option and can be left as is if needed. Thank you

We have just the kind of axle kit you're looking for to replace your Jayco 12's OEM 3500-lb axle. All you need to do is confirm two dimensions on your axle, hub face spacing and spring center spacing, to select the correct one. If you refer to the linked diagram you'll see how to measure these two dimensions, labeled A and B respectively.

If your hub face spacing is 95-inches then use axle # 7359765-EB. If it is 89-inches then use axle # e43SR. Both axles come complete with hubs, electric brakes, E-Z Lube spindles, bearings, races, seals, grease caps, wheel studs, lug nuts, and marine-grade wheel bearing grease. Both axles work with trailer wheels from 13- to 15-inches in diameter so you can move to larger ones as long as you have enough fender and frame clearance.

To get the higher ride height you'll use over-under kit # K71-384-00. This kit will give you lift equal to the axle diameter (2-3/8-inches) plus the height of your leaf spring stack.

For wiring in the brakes I recommend using junction box # HS381-9000; this gives you one central protected place for making all light and brake wiring connections. You'll need ring terminals # 44-5310A, butt connectors # DW05745-5 and 10-gauge wire # 10-2-1 to wire the brakes and lights to the box. Note the brake wires are NOT polarized so either lead can be ground or hot.

You'll also need a trailer brake controller in the vehicle to power the brakes. We do have wireless controllers like the Curt Echo # C51180 that need no wiring inside the tow vehicle; they literally plug in to the 7-way and then pair to your smartphone which serves as the control and display. Check out the linked video on the Echo to see more.
