Best Way To Lift Jayco Fifth Wheel Trailer

Question:

If I need to lift our RV by about 6 inches, would this do the job? We have a 1999 Jayco 5th Wheel. If not, what would be our best option?

There is a way for you to lift your 1999 Jayco fifth wheel trailer, though not a lift kit that will give you a full six inches.

The best option is called an over/under conversion kit, which moves your trailer's leaf springs to the top of your axle and lifts your trailer approximately the same amount as your axle's diameter plus the height of the leaf spring pack (please keep in mind this conversion kit is for use with double-eye springs only). I have added a photo a customer sent in which displays how the kit will look after being installed.

If you had a 2-3/8" round axle you would need Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit # K71-384-00 or if you had a 3" round axle you would need Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit # K71-385-00. An axle which is 2-3/8" is commonly found on 3,500 lb axles while a 3" axle is commonly found on axles with ratings of 6,000 lbs to 7,200 lbs, which should help you determine which kit you need.

I have added links to video reviews of both kits for you to take a look at.

If you have a standard leaf spring suspension setup the next best route is to simply replace the existing hangers with longer ones. I've linked our full selection below.
