It sounds like you are asking what has changed in regards to the B&W Companion Fifth Wheel Hitch # BWRVK3300 compared to the B&W Companion Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch # BWRVK3500-5W and the answer is in fact the base, like you were asking.

The base on the B&W Companion # BWRVK3300 is designed to fit directly in the puck system of Ford F-250, F-350 and F-450 Super Duty trucks from 2011 through the 2019 model years (this is as of 2019). I added a photo showing the legs from this hitch and how they fit in the pucks.

The base of the B&W Companion # BWRVK3500-5W, on the other hand, does not fit the puck system of those trucks and instead requires the installation of the B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitch # BWGNRK1116-5W, which fits 2017 - 2018 Ford F-250 and F-350 (2-wheel drive) OR 2019 Ford F-250 and F-350 (both 2-wheel drive and 4-wheel drive).

No matter which Companion you go with, it is widely regarded as the most high-quality fifth wheel hitch in the industry due to its jaw system that creates an absolutely secure connection with your kingpin and polyurethane bushings which give you a quiet, comfortable ride when towing.

If you let me know the year, make and model of your truck, as well as the bed length and if you have the puck system or not I will be happy to find the correct Companion for you. I have added links to video reviews of these hitches for you to check out as well.
