How To Keep Spare Tire and Use a Cargo Carrier on the Back of a Jayco Jay Feather Trailer

Question:

I had a receiver welded on my trailer for a cargo rack. With the cargo rack installed my spare tire hits it. I have a standard Jayco spare tire holder. The tire fits between the rack and bumper though. Do you have a square U-bolt that will fit around my 4 inch bumper but have the length to go through the tire to mount it. The trailer has the height so even though the tire sits a little below the bumper it will not hit anything while towing, Or do you have a different suggestion or product that will work?

I think we may have a solution that will work for you as we offer a very wide variety of spare tire carriers. However, I would really need to see a photo of you setup in order to offer the best advise. The issue you will run into trying to find a u-bolt is that the studs for a u-bolt that fit a 4" x 4" bumper would not align with bolt holes in the wheel.

The best option we have at this time would be to use an undercarriage storage system like the Lippert Underchassis Double Bin Storage Unit part # LC125460 which has a built-in spare tire carrier. If this will not work then the next best option would be to place the spare tire on the front of the trailer with something like the Stromberg Carlson Trailer Tray Cargo Carrier for A-Frame Trailers part # CC-255 and the Fulton Economy Spare Tire Carrier with Lock part # FETCHL0700.
