Is There a Plug-In Adapter for Brake Controller on 2019 Chevy Colorado with Factory 7-Way

Question:

Have a 2019 Colorado Z71 with factory trailer 4 and 7 plan receivers installed but no ebrake controller. I ready have the P3 installed in our 2018 Subaru outback so I at least need the wired harness the plugs into the back of the P3 and any other wired harnesses that you can advise.

There is no plug-in wiring adapter for a brake controller on a 2019 Chevy Colorado; most brake controllers such as the Prodigy P3 # 90195 will need to be hardwired into the vehicle. For this you can use the Replacement Brake Control Plug-In Harness for Tekonsha # 20127.

The wires for your '19 Colorado are already run and you can use the video I linked showing the install of a Prodigy on an '18 Colorado as a guide for installation. You can also use the Replacement Mounting Bracket Kit for Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # TK5906 to mount it in your truck.

That said, there is another option for a brake controller you can use seamlessly on both your Outback and Colorado, the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller # C51180. The reason you can use this controller is because it is wireless and will just plug into the 7-way on the rear of both your 2018 Outback and 2019 Colorado with no adapters or other wiring needed.

The Echo uses your smartphone for set up and the Echo app is what will allow you to make adjustments as needed; the controller only requires your smartphone (or tablet!) have the 8.0 OS for Apple or 4.4 OS for Android devices.

This is a proportional controller just like the P3 and the brakes on your trailer will work with this controller even if for some reason your phone loses its connectivity with the controller - it will simply maintain its most recently programmed settings.

I have added links to a couple video reviews of the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 for you to check out.
