Parts Needed to Install Redarc Tow Pro Brake Controller in 2011 BMW X5
Question:
I plan to install a Draw-tite hitch with 119250 harness kit with redarc tow-pro elite brake controller 331-EBRH-ACCV2 on my bmw x5 35i xdrive 2011. -For the redarc, Is it mandatory to install a diode on the vehicule brake light source to avoiding back current in manual override? If its the case, what diode? -Or , can i take my brake light source from the trailer harness after the tekonsha zci 119250? Thanks for your help

A diode is not needed to install a brake controller in your 2011 BMW X5 like the Redarc Tow Pro part # RED44FR that you referenced. The red wire of the controller would run directly to a brake signal at the pedal and you'd be set. You can't use wiring from the # 119250KIT as this signal is also shared by the turn signal circuit so you'd have the brakes trying to activate with the blinker. This is why you need just a brake light circuit.
The other kit you need is the part # ETBC7 which will convert the 4-way to a 7-way and give you the needed wiring for installing the brake controller.
