How to Determine Correct Replacement Pin and Cable for Hopkins Breakaway Kit
Question:
old hopkins breakaway replacement cable and pin. I am confused on which part I may need. I read John H description and based on the pictures I think HM20012 is the right part. However my pin total length is about 2 in 3/16. This is length given for the newer part. The trailer is older...pace american 1997. i cannot find a part number however it does say TAP and Hopkins. Also I am curious about choosing the right length and correct attachment to the vehicle.

If you take another look at the photo I provided you can check out the styles of both Hopkins pins.
Since you cannot find a part number the best thing to do is use this photo to determine the pin that you need, with the pin on the Replacement Cable and Pin for Hopkins Breakaway Kits # HM20012 having multiple prongs. If yours matches up this is the direction you should take.
If you take another look and your pin looks more like the flat style of the Replacement Cable and Pin for Hopkins LED Breakaway Switches # HM20051 then you will want to go that route.
