Recommended Trailer Wiring Harness and Brake Controller for 2003 Toyota Sequoia SR5 2WD

Question:

2003 Toyota Sequoia SR5 2WD Can you tell me what type of trailer connector I have stock on my Sequoia? We will be purchasing a 2019 Coleman 1805RB Travel Trailer and will want to hook it up correctly. Also, will be installing my Tekonsha brake controller. Do you have a working kit for that?

Your 2003 Toyota Sequoia should have a factory 7-way trailer connector. If you don't have one already connected, the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package - 7-Way and 4-Flat Connectors # HM11143384 will connect to a factory wiring harness which if present is located slightly toward the driver's side under your Sequoia.

If you have that, then I recommend the Tekonsha wiring harness # 3040-P which will also be compatible with any Tekonsha controller. This will plug in under your dash and give you the more traditional dash mount.

If you don't have that, then you will need to hardwire your controller and trailer wiring using a kit like the # ETBC7 and a 4 way harness. There isn't a custom 4-way harness for your vehicle, so you will use a kit like # 18252 if you don't already have it.
