Compatibility of Flat Towing Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk with Motorcycle Carrier for Scooter on Back
Question:
I am researching a toad vehicle for my RV. I am leaning towards a 2017-2019 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. I plan on flat towing and possibly putting a 50 CC, 200lb scooter and carrier on the back hitch of the Trailhawk. My RV can tow up to 7,500 lbs so towing is not an issue. My concern is putting the scooter on the back of the Trailhawk. What concerns should I have and what type of scooter hauler could I use? Thanks

Putting a 200 lb scooter on the back of your Trailhawk is definitely not an issue when driving the vehicle, but needs to be considered in the towing weight of the vehicle when flat towing on all the components. Having a bike rack on your vehicle can cause some additional sway when towing, and having a motorized scooter could also cause some sway so you need to be aware of that possibility. Just make sure your trailer hitch receiver has a tongue weight rated for the combination of the carrier and the scooter.
For a 50cc scooter, I recommend a motorcycle carrier like the etrailer Motorcycle Carrier for 2" Hitches -500 lbs # e98873 and then the Erickson Motorcycle and ATV Tie-Downs w Soft Ties # EM05729
