According to Kat's Heaters, the Kat's Heaters Custom Fit Engine Block Heater part # KH11812 which is a fit for your 2012 Hyundai Genesis with the 3.8L V6 engine will install in the right hand side on the rear of the engine which is labeled as "RR" in the attached diagram. I have also attached the specified location directly from the application guide for Kat's Heaters.
I am not sure which set of installation instructions you are referring to but the above is the correct location. Once you find the hole in the block for the heater you can then follow the attached instructions:
1) Clean cartridge hole of all debris. Use compressed air.
2) Attach cord to heater.
3) Install heater into the hole. Rotate the clip on the cord to the proper position to secure the heater and cord to the engine block and heater.
4) Route the cord through the grill, using cable ties to prevent the cord from getting in contact with any hot or moving parts.
Don't forget to use the Kat's Heaters Plug Cover part # KH28405 so you can protect the plug from corrosion and shorts while not in use.
