Recommended Trailer Hitch for 2016 Hyundai Elantra GT Hatchback
Question:
Hello! Which hitch would fit on a 2016 Hyundai Elantra GT? Im wondering if the hatch back model would need a different installation than the sedan.

You are right that the GT (hatchback) version of your 2016 Hyundai Elantra does require a different hitch model than the Sedan. For the GT hatchback model we have both the Draw-Tite Class I # 24905 and the Curt # C11400 that are confirmed to fit.
Between the 2 options I recommend going with the Draw-Tite # 24905 because it offers a bit of an easier installation process and unlike with the Curt model it doesn't require the installation of an additional strap when using the hitch for a non-trailer load like a bike rack or cargo carrier. It will provide you with a 1-1/4 inch receiver and will use existing holes in the vehicle's frame for a no-drill installation.
One thing you will want to check on your Elantra is whether or not it was built in Korea, as this hitch will not fit those that were. To determine this all you need to do is check the manufacturer sticker on the door jamb or take a look at your VIN. If the second letter is an "M" then the vehicle was built in Korea.
I have attached the written installation instructions for the Draw-Tite hitch that you can check out. All the needed hardware is included. If you can tell me what you plan on using the hitch for I will be happy to make some additional recommendations. In the meantime I have attached a couple links that will take you directly to our available selection of Class I compatible bike racks and cargo carriers that you can look through.
