Installing Roadmaster 12 Volt Outlet Kit to Rear Cargo Area of Subaru Outback
Question:
we want to make the 12v outlet in the back of our Subaru Outback Hot so we can keep a Dometic fridge/freezer working when we shut the ignition off. The wire on this kit will not reach, can I just add additional wire to this kit to make it work so it will reach all the way to the back hatch area? Like the Forester it will have to reach about 10foot from the fuse box in the drivers area to the back of the hatch.

The 12 Volt Outlet Kit, 20 amps # RM-9332 will work just fine with you adding a longer wire to your battery. I recommend # 12-2-1 sold by the foot along with butt connector # 224775 or heat shrink connector # DW05745-5 for a better weather seal if needed. I recommend connecting directly to the battery and not at the fuse box. You will also want to make sure you leave the fuse in a location that is accessible if you need to replace at some point.
I've attached some videos and an article on routing that power wire to assist.
