Brake Controller Adapter for a 2018 Land Rover Range Rover Sport HSE
Question:
I have a 2018 Range Rover Sport HSE with the advanced tow package. I was installing my Tekonsha Primus IQ trailer brake controller. I bought the recommended adapter part 3035-P. When installing, the male end in the car has 2 additional prongs that go to dead space on the female end. Do I have the correct adapter for this car?

The Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter part # 3035-P may work with your 2018 Land Rover Range Rover Sport HSE. However, the pins inside the vehicle side brake controller adapter port may not match that of the above harness. The reason for this is that the different trim packages all use the same brake controller adapter port, but they are not all pinned the same. This means that the 12 volt power wire on the vehicle side could align with the 12 volt power wire on the brake controller side or it could align with the brake output.
Therefore, you are going to need to probe each of the wires inside the vehicle side brake controller adapter and then reconfigure the above harness to match that. The number of pins should not be a concern as it is not uncommon to have extra/unused slots.
