Are Self-Adjusting Brakes Needed for Trailer Brake Controller
Question:
Do my brakes need to be self adjusting type?
asked by: David
Expert Reply:
The electric brake assemblies on your trailer do not need to be self-adjusting for them to work with any of our brake controllers such as the Autowbrake # 3430001 that you're looking at.
Self-adjusting brakes like the etrailer.com # AKEBRK-35-SA for 3,500 pound axles simply allow for a more maintenance-free application since they won't need to be manually adjusted like standard brakes. This feature does not affect compatibility with brake controllers.
