Parts Needed to Convert from Electric Brakes to Electric Over Hydraulic Disc Brakes
Question:
Disc Brake System parts for Jayco 2017 Pinnacle and 2017 GMC 2500 Diesel - I have a Jayco Pinnacle 36FBTS 5th wheel with two axles rated at 7000 pounds each. My 2017 GMC truck is a 2500HD with diesel Dura-Max. It is equipped with a tow pack including the on-board controller for my existing electrical brakes. I assume I will not be able to use that, but would require an aftermarket controller and harness adapter. I like the Tow-Pro Controller. Based on this description would you be able to put together a kit of what I would need along with total cost? To be clear, all I am doing is removing my electrical brake systems and wanting to install the hydraulic brake system… from the cab in my truck all the way back to the trailer. What do I need specifically and what would I need specifically for my factory installed trailer braking control in my 2017 GMC truck?

To convert your trailer from electric drum brakes to electric over hydraulic disc brakes we can start with the disc brake kit. Since you have 7,000 lb axles a great option is the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2HR712D (one per axle) along with Bearing Kit # BK3-200. To ensure this kit is going to work you will need to ensure you have a 5-bolt brake mounting flange and what hubs you currently have.
You will need to take apart your current hub assembly and look at the bearings themselves; wipe away the grease and you should be able to see the part number stamped directly on them. If you are unable to find them, you need to use a digital caliper to measure your spindle to the thousandths of an inch where the bearings and grease seal ride. You can use the photo I've attached to see exactly where you need to measure.
Additionally, you need to know your hub's wheel bolt pattern; if you do not know what it is I have added a help article which details how you can find it. This brake kit uses inner bearing 25580, outer bearing 14125A and has an 8 on 6-1/2 inch bolt pattern; if your bearings and bolt pattern match up this will be the right kit for you.
Once you have the correct brake kit figured out the rest is easy; I assume you have a breakaway kit such as # 50-85-313 already, so you will only need the HydraStar Hydraulic Brake Line Kit # HS496-252 and HydraStar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator for Disc Brakes # HBA16. You can use an EOH actuator with the factory installed brake controller in your 2015 GMC Sierra 2500 so long as you use an adapter. The correct one for the HydraStar is the HydraStar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator Adapter Module # HBA-CAM.
I have added links to video reviews as well as a link to a help article which details the parts needed for a conversion to EOH brakes.
