If you have the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Square Tube Slider - Single Jaw - 20,000 lbs # RP30084 you asked from or a similar Reese Elite or Select hitch head, I can help with some of the chucking. This is the back and forth banging you referenced. For your Revolution hitch, I recommend the custom wedge designed for that hitch head funnel # SWW-01. This is a perfect fit for your hitch for a smoother ride.

Banging up and down will be slightly reduced using a custom wedge, but that is more of a suspension issue in most cases on your vehicle or trailer. It can be mitigated by weight placement within your RV, so you may want to start by spreading out your cargo weight more evenly. If you need further help after the custom wedge, let me know and I can help you if you let me know your truck year/make/model and the model and year of your Rockwood 5th Wheel trailer.

It sounds like you have the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Dual Jaw - 16,000 lbs # RP30047 and if so you will want the custom wedge # SWW-03 for your Revolution pin box. This will help with the chucking and some of the jarring and porpoising. Since you are new to 5th wheelers there will be some noise and some movement of your trailer to the hitch that isn't able to be fixed as you are pulling 7,400 lbs. The air springs in your truck will be a big help as you adjust the air pressure to help not only with travel height but also with the ride you desire. You also want to make sure you aren't carrying water in your tanks as that movement will enhance the movement of your trailer significantly. Then once you have the custom wedge you will be able to adjust air and try less weight on king pin versus more weight on king pin to get the ride you desire. You will also want to adjust your trailer braking as more or less trailer brake intensity will also help.
