How to Lubricate Curt 5th Wheel Sliding Hitch Base to Ease Use and Reduce Squeals

Question:

I have a Curt A20 slider hitch with a factory F 350 installed attachment system. When I slide it back and forth with the weight of trailer on the hitch it squeals, is there a way to lubricate the rollers and what product would you suggest?

Helpful Expert Reply:

For your Curt OEM 5th-Wheel Round Tube Slider for Ford Super Duty Towing Prep Package # C16020 and A20 head # C16540, the squealing you are experiencing can be mitigated by spraying some white lithium grease into the roller wheels. This is an easy way to get access to those wheels without disassembling the slider base to gain further access although if this doesn't solve the issue, you may need to do that to better access the rollers.

Work the grease into the rollers prior to reconnecting the trailer and move it along the rails back and forth to ensure the grease is worked into all the roller parts.
