What is the Maximum Gooseneck Towing Capacity of a 2001 Ford F-350 with 7.3L Diesel

Question:

Since my truck is older, I cannot find an accurate number of my max tow capacity, not even through Ford corporate. Their reps say the info is no longer available. I was quoted that for my VIN, my max for fifth wheel towing is 12,400 lbs., but I need to know my max with a hide a ball gooseneck hitch.

The only true way to find out the gooseneck towing capacity of your 2001 Ford F-350 is to subtract the gross vehicle weight (GVW) from the gross combined weight rating (GCWR) which should both be displayed on the white sticker inside your door jamb. This is the correct procedure to determine gooseneck towing capacity according to the diesel supplement for your owner's manual. They do not give exact figures for this as it will vary by vehicle.

If you do not already have a gooseneck trailer hitch on your F-350 then I recommend using the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch part # BWGNRK1108 which will also double as a connection point for a 5th wheel hitch. I would also recommend an in-bed 7-way like the Hopkins Endurance 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness part # 41157.

I have attached install videos for you as well.
