Recommended Backup Camera for Towing a 23' Travel Trailer with a 2017 Ram 1500

Question:

My 2017 RAM 1500 Bighorn has a OEM backup camera. I pull a 23 foot travel trailer. Can I install a backup camera on the travel trailer that can be viewed in the RAMs own screen? In other words, can I toggle between the truck backup camera and the travel trailer backup camera? And if so, can it be wired or wireless? I'm trying to determine the best economical travel trailer backup camera system for it - camera on the back of the travel trailer with a wide view. The truck's own backup camera is excellent for a hitch view. I need a wide view on the back of the trailer to help park it, and it would be nice to see behind me while traveling if I chose to. Thank you.

For your application I highly recommend the Rear View Safety Backup Camera System with Trailer Tow Quick Connect Kit # RVS-770613-213 because Rear View Safety is one of the best systems out there and this kit comes with the quick disconnect so that you can easily hook up the trailer camera via hardwiring (which is a more secure connection).

The camera that comes with this system has a 130-degree viewing angle and has 50' or infrared night vision. Simply connect the power of the camera to the running light circuit on your trailer so that you can control when the camera switches on and off.

Unfortunately there are no cameras that will hook up and are compatible with the monitor on your 2017 Ram 1500. We do have the Rear View Safety Wireless Backup Camera System # RVS-091406 which is a little more cost-effective but I personally don't think the wireless options are as good as hardwiring because the connection between the camera and monitor are subject to outside influences (like inclement weather or tunnels).

Attached are review videos and installation instructions for both camera systems for you to reference.
