How to Install Weight Distribution System on Trailer with V-Nose

Question:

I want to install a weight distribution system like this on my vnose trailer - but the distance between the center of my coupler and where I could attached the frame connector is 25 inches and these systems need between 28.5 and 30.5 inches. I was debating on getting the Blue Ox Hitch Extender for Tow Bars - 2inch Hitches - 6-3/4inch or 8-3/4inch Extension Item # BX88265 or this BD028463 Bulldog Collar-Lok Coupler w/ High-Profile Latch - 2-5/16inch Ball - A-Frame. Either one would get the center of the coupler out to the correct distance. One involves welding. What do you recommend? Attached is a pic of my trailer.

For V-nose trailers like yours the solution for attaching the side frame brackets to the trailer is to use bolt on brackets since they do not require clearance above the frame. Reese has the kit part # RP58305 which would work great for you. I attached an install video for this for you to check out as well.

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.

Once you know your tongue weight you will want to check out the link I attached that has all of the weight distribution systems we carry. You will be able to select your tongue weight from the filters to see what would be rated for your setup. The link shows all of our Reese systems since this is the brand to use with the Reese brackets.
