Since your 2005 Dodge Durango does not have a factory 7-Way or brake controller plug under the dash, it will be a hardwire installation. For that, you will need a 4-Way trailer connector installed first, # 118390, unless you already have one.
Then, you will need to install a 4 and 7-Way Installation Kit, # ETBC7. The ETBC7 comes with all of the wiring and circuit breakers needed to install a brake controller like the Tekonsha P3, # 90195. I have included a link to the FAQ article on the ETBC7 and a link to a video showing a typical installation.
The wiring on the brake controller is white is ground, black is 12 volt power, blue is output to the trailer brakes, and red is input from the brake switch. I have included links to the installation details for the brake controller and wiring harness as well.
