Availability of Replacement 1.82 Inch Dust Cap for Older Trailer Hubs

Question:

So.... I got this fantastic deal on an old boat that has turned out NOT to be so fantastic. lol The one remaining dust cap was a broken up HADCO plastic cap. It had a spring in it similar to the Bearing Buddy caps... but no grease zert. Piecing the HADCO cap back together, I got a measurement of 1.82inch for the diam. of barrel that mates with the hub. 45mm caps 1.78 arent even close to staying in. Will I have to seek out the help of a machinist,... or do you have a solution?

We do have a set of Bearing Buddy Bearing Protectors that may work for the older hubs on your somewhat fantastic boat trailer. The Bearing Buddy Bearing Protectors part # BB1810 are designed to fit a hub bore diameter of 1.810 inches, which is awfully close to the 1.82 inch measurement you took.

We do not have a standard dust cap available with this same diameter.

I do also recommend measuring the actual bore diameter on the hubs too to see what measurement you get with a digital caliper. This should give you a more accurate measurement as to the size of the cap you are needing than with the pieced together cap, especially since the measurement needs to be so precise.

I have attached a short video demonstration on this product that you can also check out.
