Is it Okay to Use Bias Tires on One Axle and Radial on Another Axle of the Same Trailer

Question:

I just discovered that my trailer has bias tires on it and I would like to replace two of the tires with the radial tires. Does this present a problem?

Expert Reply:

We don't recommend mixing bias and radial tires on a trailer. They will track and wear differently which can cause premature tire wear and possibly lead to control problems.

If your bias tires are still in good shape then I would wait until you are able to replace them all at the same time. If you have size 205/75-14 tires then the Karrier ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire with 14" Galvanized Wheel # AM32156 that was referenced is a great option but if you have a different size just let me know what it is and I can make a recommendation for you.
