Troubleshooting Right Turn and Brake Lights Stopped Working on Trailer with Honda Pilot

Question:

I have a 3 year old Curt wiring harness. Just recently my passenger side trailer blinker and brake light stopped working Green Wire the running lights work. The drivers side works fine. We hooked the trailer up to another vehicle and they both worked fine. So its not the trailer. We tested the voltage on the trailer harness and the green wire on the 4 way shows no voltage. Where should I go next t trouble shoot this problem? Do you think the green wire has gone bad in the harness? Thanks

There are a few possible reasons as to why you are no longer getting any power on the right turn/brake light circuit wire for the Curt Wiring Harness # C56170. You have at least ruled out the trailer wiring as the issue and can focus on your Honda Pilot.

I first recommend simply inspecting the 4-Way pins at the rear of your Honda Pilot. Check the pins for any corrosion or debris that might be built up that would lead to a short, cleaning out as needed. If everything looks fine then there may be a damaged fuse or relay that needs to be replaced on the vehicle. You can check your owner's manual for the locations of any fuses or relays related to the trailer lights.

If the fuses are good then your best option is to inspect the green wire on the harness as far as you can, checking for any pinched or exposed areas that may be causing a short.

If you still aren't able to locate the issue please let me know and we can continue to troubleshoot.
