Factory Trailer Wiring Connection Point on a 2002 Chevy Tracker
Question:
On a 2002 Chevrolet tracker the connection point for the trailer wiring harness is not in the jack compartment. Some of the answers say it may be forward of the jack compartment. How does the next forward trim panel come off?

I spoke with a customer who has performed this installation and had to remove the forward panel you mentioned. He stated that prior to removing the back drivers side jack compartment panel for access to the trailer wiring plug, he had to first remove the panel in front of it, by removing a few screws.
The back side panel then is very carefully pulled out a bit at a time, to separate the panel from the side. Most of the inside panels are attached by inner snaps. For removal, they have to be carefully pulled outward until the panels are fully unsnapped from the inner body sidewalls.
The reassembly process is just the opposite of the dis-assembly. The trailer light harness and plug you can then see taped to the inside of the side body opening.
