Installation of Brake Controller In a 1999 Ford F-250

in your vidio you conect wireing at brake line. Ive got part #f81b 15a416 ab 141 0668 020. a ford factory harness labled connect to instrument panel feed its a 5 wire brown- illumination, d. blueelect. brake feed, red-bk. control feed, wht. - ground lt green-stop lamp feed to brake control... will this control everything from fuse box or relay box. will i need to install relay too.. haynes book says nothing about towing a trailer at all.. i want to watch out for my curant flow. ive had p.c.m. problems in the past thanks kg

On a 1999 Ford F-250 with a factory 7-way connector at the rear bumper all you will need to install a brake controller, is the brake controller and the correct brake wiring harness that will connect the brake controller to the factory brake controller port under the dash. The fuses and relays should be installed in your power distribution box. The brown illumination wire is not needed for installation of a brake controller.

I would recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller, part # 90885, and the Tekonsha Wiring Harness, part # 3035-P. I am including links to installation instructions on both items.

If your F-250 came with a factory 4-Way connector, or no trailer connector at all, you will need both items mentioned above and also the Tow Ready 7-Way Ford Replacement OEM Tow Package Wiring Harness, part # 118242. This harness will plug into the Ford OEM connector located on the drivers side between the back tires and the end of the truck bed. This part will give you a 7-Way at the rear and includes the fuses and relays to activate the power to the brake controller and to get 12 volt power to the 7-Way. I am including a link to instructions on the wiring harness.
