Trailer Tires Recommended to Replace Old HR78 15 Size Tires

Question:

We bought a vintage pull behind camper and the Fleetwood HR78 15 Load range B tires are dry rotted beyond use . Im not sure what the correct conversion size is for replacements . The width is probably critical because the sides/bottom of the camper is flat , no open wheel-wells . We literally had to jack the camper up to a ridiculous height to slide the tire off the axle and out from under the campers body . The tires measure 8inch deep and 28inch to 28 1/2inch across on a six lug rim . Im thinking I should go with a D or E load range tire , this old camper looks kinda heavy compared to todays lighter campers .

The metric tire size that matches up wtih your HR78 15 tires is 225/75-15. They measure just under 9 inches wide across the tread and about 28-1/2 inches in diameter.

Since you said you want a higher load range I recommend the Westlake, part # LHWL304, that are an E load range. They're rated at 2,830 pounds per tire when inflated to 80 psi. Make sure the rims and valve stems can handle the psi.

One of the best things about Westlake tires is their 5-year warranty and 2-year complimentary roadside assistance.
