Recommended Replacement Tire and Rim for Vintage 1955 Spartan Royal Mansion Travel Trailer
Question:
I have a 1955 Spartan Royal Mansion that currently has 7.5x16 tires on rims that are 6 x 5.5. The problem is that the center bore is 3.625. If Im looking to replace rims and tires, should I go down to 15inch rims to accommodate the center bore or use a 235/85/r16 tire with rims that have 4.25inch center bore? I cant seem to find 16inch rims with the 3.625 center bore? Help is appreciated!!

For your 1955 Spartan Royal Mansion, the center bore or pilot hole is not the focus when replacing wheels and tires. The pilot hole simply needs to be large enough to go over the hub because the wheel will be centered using the wheel lugs.
You can use the 16 inch wheels like # AM35010 if you want the larger tires that are rated for 3,640 lbs at 95 psi. My recommendation is to use the Provider ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 16" Silver Mod Wheel - 6 on 5-1/2 - Load Range E # TA59VR which is rated for 3,520 lbs at 80 psi and speeds up to 81 mph. These tires and wheels come with a 2 year warranty that includes roadside assistance 24/7. This tire does have the pilot diameter of 4.25 and you can use the cap # QT655C or use the Trailer Wheel Center Cap, Chrome, 4.25" Pilot Size # 425EZ to finish the look.
