Trailer Hitch Bolts Will Not Fit into factory Weld Nuts in Frame

The weld nuts on your vehicle will likely have to be cleaned out. Over time the threads can get packed with gunk and make it seem like the bolts are too large when really they are not. Use a spray lubricant such as PB Blaster and soak the weld nuts.
Let them sit for about 15 minutes and then scrub them out with a brush such as # 814092 or a battery terminal cleaner such as # DW00254. You may have to do this a few times depending on how gunked up the threads are. I have included a couple of links that will help.
