Question:

Ive a 2005 toyota corolla XRS, and I will need to use a tap to clean out the threads. I know that the bolts are M12, but I dont know what pitch. could you tell me what that is?

The Curt Class I hitch, part # C11227 uses an M12-1.25x30 bolt. The bolt is 12mm in diameter, the thread pitch is 1.25 (meaning the threads are 1.25mm apart) and 30mm long.

You'd need a M12-1.25 thread tap.

If you haven't tried scrubbing out the weldnuts, you might try that first. Our installers have found that a steel brush like the one included with the # DW00254 battery terminal cleaner works very well. Soak the threads with a penetrating lubricant and allow it to soak for awhile before giving it a good scrub with the brush.
