There are two accepted ways of wiring a 6-way round connector. One uses the center pin as the 12-volt power accessory feed, the other uses the center pin for the brake output circuit (reverse lights).

The Hopkins 7 Pole to 6 Pole Adapter, part # 47549, that you have referenced comes with the center pin wired up as the 12-volt lead, but it can easily be taken apart and rewired for the center pin to be for the reverse light circuit.

To see a diagram showing how a 6-way connector is wired, click on the link provided to our wiring FAQ page.

The 7-Way connector that is on your vehicle uses the center pin for the reverse light circuit. The wiring for the 7-Way is also pictured in the FAQ wiring page.
