Troubleshooting New Brake Controller that Won't Power On

Question:

I have tested the 3035 plug and there is power from the black wire. The red wire has power when I press the brake pedal. I used the white wire ground when testing for voltage. When I plug into the controller, nothing happens. Blank screen. This is the second controller you sent me.

It's very unusual for the P3 part # 90195 to be defective as this is one of the most reliable controllers around but it's not impossible. What I would recommend you do is take the controller under the hood of your truck with the pigtail installed in it that has the 4 blunt cut wires. Touch the white wire directly to the vehicle battery ground and the black directly to the positive side of the battery. This will be the most direct way to determine if the controller is functional or not that eliminates all possible variables. The screen should come on. If it does then the problem is not the controller and is instead the wiring of the truck. If not, then the controller is bad. Since this would be the second controller it would seem that a short is possibly taking out the controller on your truck wiring. Only because the P3 is normally very solid.

I also attached a help article on brake controller troubleshooting for you to check out as well.
