Can Underbed Demco HiJacker be Installed at Lowest Height Settings on a 2018 GMC Sierra 3500
Question:
Hello I recently had a 18K-Hijacker hitch installed as a UMS on a 2018 GMC 3500HD. I originally discussed with the dealer/installer that they would put the hitch on a height setting of 2 but they installed it at the highest setting. where it now hits my rolling tonneau cover. they insisted that the highest setting was needed to prevent interference with the gears under the hitch. yet there is over 3" of clearance between the hitch and the bed. see photo. are they telling me the truth or did they just install the UMS adapter plates wrong ? thank you for the reply !

There are no notes or warnings from Demco regarding using a HiJacker in a lower setting on your 2018 GMC Sierra 3500. And it looks like there is a ton of space available based on your picture. And the gearing is higher up than the lowest part of the hitch base anyway. So while they may not have installed anything wrong it does certainly appear that they could have gone down a setting if not 2.
