Where to Mount Spring Bar Support Brackets on Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution System # C17499
Question:
I have purchased and installed a curt c17499 weight distribution system. Due to a battery support being in the way I have the bar supports 3inch from the end of the bars. Will this work or will the bars fall off the supports? My next option is to have the bar supports 6inch to 6 1/2inch from the end of the bars. Will this work? Which option is best?

I spoke with my contact at Curt regarding the Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution System # C17499 that you are installing on your trailer. He said that you can install the support brackets 6 to 6-1/2 inches from the end of the spring bar without issue. This is perfectly fine to do.
The ideal bracket position is 4 to 6 inches in from the spring bar but going a bit over the 6 inches is much better than going below the minimum because as you mentioned, you can start to run into the risk of the bar coming off with the shorter distances.
I have attached the complete installation instructions that you can also use for reference.

Does Curt make an adapter bracket so this can be used on a pole type boat trailer?
