How to Install a Brake Controller on a 2007 Ford F-150

Question:

I have an installation question as to locating the factory brake controller plug in. I have revoved the panel near the diagnostic port along with the metal plate and the only plug I could find which was really buried was a gray 4 pin male. I watched your video but it seemed that the plug in should be a single pin? Truck has factory towing including the round 7 pin trailer connector under the bumper, but maybe they do not ALL come with the under dash connector for controller? If that is the case,do you sell a kit along with a controller suitable for diy installation, as my electrical skills are lacking. Thanks

The plug that you have attached a photo of is the correct one that will need to be used in order to install a brake controller on your 2007 Ford F-150. If you take a look at the square end of the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers part # 3035-P you will see that it matches this plug perfectly. For a brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90195 which is one of our best selling brake controllers due to it's continuous diagnostic checks, integrated safeguards, and storable boost settings. If you are looking for something more cost effective than I recommend the Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller part # TK90160 which has the same continuous diagnostic checks and integrated safeguards as the P3 but not the storable boost settings.

Using either of the above controllers with the plug-in adapter will make for installing a brake controller on your F-150 extremely simple as it will be plug and play. I have attached a review video of the P3 in addition to an install video on a similar 2009 model.
