Only Trailer Running Lights Working After Installing Trailer Wiring Harness in 2014 Honda CR-V
Question:
Hey guys I just installed this wiring harness on my daughters 2014 Honda CRV. The taillights are the only thing working. There are no brake lights, or turn signals working on the trailer. I read some other Q and A and was wondering if the issue is the ground? I will try that unless you have something else to try also. Thank you in advance.

With trailer wiring harness # 118561 installed in the 2014 Honda CR-V it very well could be a ground that is causing the brake and turn signal lights to not work on the trailer. Ground problems normally show up when there is more draw on a system such as when you have the running lights on and then use another function like a turn signal or brake light but can show up any time.
Make sure that the vehicle side and trailer side connectors are clean and free of corrosion inside and out. The main connector grounds should be attached to clean and corrosion free bare metal surfaces. Since the wiring harness is new it isn't likely to have any corrosion issues. The separate white ground wire may need to be moved to a different location.
The light grounds should also be attached to clean and corrosion free bare metal surfaces. If there is anything between a light ground and the metal trailer frame or if the trailer has an aluminum frame, tilt bed, or folding tongue, any of these things can interrupt the ground. Running jumper wires from the light grounds to the main trailer connector ground can help.
