Rear Suspension Helper Spring Kit for Use with 5th Wheel Hitch in 2018 Toyota Tundra

Question:

I have a new 2018 Toyota Tundra with 6.5 ft bed that replaced my 2008 model. I have had my local RV dealer install the same BandW 5th wheel hitch that they installed in my 2008 truck. I also had Ride-rite airbags on my old truck and wanted the same on my new one, but after the hitch was installed they said that they could not install airbags due to the way the hitch attaches to the frame which interferes with the airbags. I cannot figure out why this combination worked with my old truck but not this one, and I definitely need the bags. I would appreciate any advice you have. Thank you.

Unfortunately you were given correct information.

Certain trucks will have compatibility issues between 5th wheel and rear air bag installations. In the case of your 6-1/2-foot bed 2018 Tundra none of the four air bag kits we offer (shown on the linked page) will work along with the hitch's installation brackets. This problem tends to occur more often with shorter truck beds.

Although air bags are out other options remain. You could use the SuperSprings Leaf Spring Stabilizer kit # SSA4 to help offset the trailer's pin weight. These will reduce both sway and sagging.
