Which Thule Fit Kit Works on a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo

In the answer to a question Micheal H says the 3142 kit only fits if the rails are metal. What does he mean? The rails on my standard jeep Laredo are plastic but obviously there are metal mounting points embedded in them. Will the 3142 fit or not please?

Basically, what Mike is saying is that if your 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee has the E Group Package then the # THKIT3142 fit kit is the correct part you need. The E Group includes flush rails on the roof of your Jeep that have a silver metal piece in them with a track inside them. The picture I attached shows the rails the E Group includes with the discontinued Thule AeroBlade Edge crossbars on it.

If your Jeep doesn't have these rails then # THKIT3142 is not the correct kit for you. Instead use part # THKIT1656 for a Thule fit kit. Then for the WingBar bars use part # TH711500 or for square bars use part # TH712500. The fit kit you need for either bar style is the Rapid Traverse foot pack, part # TH480R.

If you still aren't sure send me pictures of what your Jeep's roof looks like so I can make a definite recommendation.
