Note: Tie-down straps and their accessories must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the straps being used. For example, if you are using straps with a WLL of 500 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 1,000 lbs, then you need at least 2 straps to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use straps in pairs.

What's up, everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna be checking out this etrailer ratchet strap with S hooks on there. Ratchet straps are a great idea to tie down things to your trailer. Whatever cargo you have, you want to make sure it's on there tight. Now, this is gonna be a quantity of one today but we always suggest getting two to tie down your cargo, 'cause as you can see, two of 'em make sure there's no movement whatsoever on the cage we're hauling. The rat straps are gonna come in a few different sizes.
So the one we're working with today is gonna be two inches wide by 10 feet long. So keep that in mind with what you're wanting to use them on, there are other sizes you can look at if you need a little bit more out of the ratchet strap. This particular rat strap has the S hook here, now it's vinyl coated to protect your cargo that you hook up to and protect the hook. It also has a keeper, so that's good to put in place. So if I loosen it, let's say we're getting everything set up, I can latch it in right here, so this is gonna stay put while I set everything else up.
It's gonna have a polyester webbing, so it's a seatbelt like material, so it's not gonna rip really easily on you. You also have the double stitching here 'cause that's gonna be a high stress point, that's where a lot of tension's gonna be. It's gonna have a zinc coating on there, so if you leave it on the trailer, it rains, it's not gonna rust or corrode. You also have these coated handles here. I like that, so I'm not grabbing just straight metal.
Plus I can get my whole hand in here when it comes time to ratchet it down. Sometimes there isn't enough space for your hand in there so you can't get it as tight as you want to. You're gonna get these in two different parts. So you're gonna run the strap through the center of the ratcheting mechanism, pull out all the extra, I might have to move this up a little bit to get it tight before you start, keeping it here and grab the center handle, pull up on that, that puts it in the ratchet mode. So now, you can see it's pulling up that extra strap, and it's got enough tension on there to keep this in place.
Something else I wanna let you know is this strap is gonna have a safe working load limit of 700 pounds and a break strength of 2000 pounds. Now that's gonna be per strap, 'cause like I said before, you always wanna use two at least on whatever you're transporting. You can buy a bag separately, some of the kits with four straps come with this bag, but I highly recommend it. It's 10 liters, it'll keep both straps in here and some more if you have 'em, just to keep everything in the same place when you need it. Overall, I really like these rat straps, it makes tying down things much easier, and I have the peace of mind to know that as I've shaken this back and forth before, it's not going anywhere. This is nice and tight to the trailer and was easy to do. Well, I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out and hope this helped.
