How Long Will the Air Compressor Run on the Firestone Air Command I Part # F2266

I just talked to a guy that said he mounted his compressor on the spare battery tray. This was on a Chevy Silverado half ton under the hood. He said it’s been there for at least 6 years and never had a problem. The compressor only runs when he first loads his trailer then shuts down.have other had a lot of problems with mounting them under the hood?

Generally speaking, the duty cycle of an air compressor is going to be dependent on the range of the air pressure regulator or pressure switch installed on the tank. For example, the Firestone Air Command I part # F2266 comes with a regulator/switch that operates from 90-120 psi. This means that if the air pressure in the tank is below 90 psi then the compressor will kick on until the pressure in the tank reaches 120 psi.
There are several different ranges of regulators/switches so if you can tell me which system you have, I would be glad to look it up for you but the pressure ranges should be stamped on the label of the regulator/switch. If you do not have a regulator/switch then you can aquire one using part # F9016 which has the same 90-120 psi range listed above.
I am not sure what you mean by under hood engine heat as the air compressor should not really be mounted under the hood of your vehicle near the engine. The ambient temperatures under the hood could negatively affect the compressor therefore is not recommend.
