Troubleshooting Electric Brakes Locking Up With 2007 Nissan Frontier Using Harness 118266

Question:

I believe I have a faulty relay for my T-connector kit. Order #10640769, when the relay is installed, the brakes on any trailer hooked up lock-up, when the relay is taken out the brakes free up and then running lights do not work. Is it possible I have a bad relay? Is there any diagnostic I can perform at home? How soon can I get a replacement?

The issue with the brakes locking up is not a faulty relay. The electric brake and battery charge wires in the main harness are reversed on all Nissan Frontiers that requires the use of Harness # 118266.

We have a help article about this issue that I have linked for you, which describes the exact steps you will need to take in order to isolate the problem and make a simple repair.

Having problems with my break terminal being energized on my 7way trailer connector #118266. Have a 2016 Nissan Frontier. Your trouble shooting post said this is the correct harness and relays,so could I be missing something else. The truck came from Canada if that has anything to do with any wiring changes?

It sounds like your Frontier is one of the few that have the factory trailer brake and 12V charge circuits reversed. You will need to change the plug/pin on the harness to resolve the issue - take a look at the article linked below that details this process.
