Recommended Roof Rack for 2014 Acura MDX with Naked Roof

Question:

Hi - I currently dont have anything installed on the roof of my Acura MDX. What is the difference between all the brands? Which would you recommend? Why the big price difference between Thule and Rhino? Would mainly be used to carry a storage box. Thanks.

We do have a large selection of roof racks available that are confirmed to fit your 2014 Acura MDX with the naked roof.

When it comes to roof rack systems, the difference in brands/manufacturers will usually just come down to personal preference, along with the type of crossbars you want. Thule and Yakima tend to represent the more premium options (Thule crossbars are considered to be the quietest on the market.), while Rhino-Rack will usually offer a more cost-effective, but still high quality solution. SeaSucker stands a bit apart from the rest, as their systems, such as the Monkey Bars Roof Rack # 298-SX6100B, feature a unique design with vacuum cups that mount directly to the naked roof. Roof racks from other manufacturers will utilize the same general components - Fit Kit, Legs, and Crossbars - to attach a roof rack to the vehicle.

For your Acura MDX, I do recommend going with the Rhino-Rack Vortex Roof Rack, which includes # RRVA137B-2 for the two 54 inch Aero Crossbars, # RRRLKVA for the 2500 Series Legs, and # DK400 for the DK Fit Kit. This is a really nice system that will give you a sleek, aerodynamic roof rack with a weight capacity of 165 pounds. This system will work very nicely for a roof-mounted cargo box.

I have attached a short video demonstration on an Acura MDX so you see exactly how this will look on your vehicle.

I have also included a link that will take you to our available selection of roof mounted cargo boxes that you can look through, such as the excellent Thule Pulse # TH615, which features 16 cubic feet of carrying capacity.
