Tailgate Electric Lock for 2018 Honda Ridgeline

I am considering purchasing the electronic tail gate lock system for the 2018 Ridgeline. My question is: should the system fail in the lock position and the gate closed, is there a way to override the mechanism as there is no key backup?

The Pop & Lock Custom Tailgate Lock - Power - Black # PAL8600 does not remove the use of the locking cylinder on your truck tailgate. It will allow you to still have the manual access when desired and will allow the electric access when desired.

In an absolute worse case scenario you would be able to gain access just like you can to a locked vehicle. If the failure was with the power, you could simply tap into the lines, but if it were mechanical it would be more difficult and may require replacing parts of your trim. We have not seen this issue with any of their products over multiple years of vehicles, so I don't foresee any issues.
