Can I use synthetic wire rope with the Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch - TUFFPLATE Finish - 2 Speed - Direct Drive - 3,500 lbs? Boat Trailer Application

I spoke with my contact at Dutton-Lainson regarding the 2-Speed Hand Winch # DL14881 that you referenced. She stated that they do not recommend using synthetic wire rope with any of their winches. This is because of how synthetic rope will get tighter as it stretches, which over time can actually cause damage to the winch drum.
For this particular winch, I instead recommend using the cable # DL24104. This galvanized aircraft cable measures 50 feet long and includes a safety hook. I have attached a short video demonstration that you can also check out.
