Recommended 4-Way Trailer Wiring Harness for 2014 Honda Odyssey Touring with 7-Way Adapter

Question:

I have a Travel Trailer with a seven pin plug. I need to tow it about 1 1/2 miles each way to a camper ground near my home. I plan to use a 2014 Touring Odyssey to do it. As of now the Odyssey has a 2” square hitch on it but has no wiring. Because I will not have to tow it only about the 1 1/2 miles each way at a speed not more than 45 mph I would like to have it wired with only a four pin to the rear and then ad a seven to 4 pin adapter. What do you think?? If it is feasible how much will the installation cost for the 4 pin and the wiring for the Seven pin to 4 pin adapter? I do not think I will need a brake controller as the use of the Odyssey will only be for a couple of summers and only for the 1 1/2 mike tow. Thanks.

For just the 4 way and the adapter for your 2014 Honda Odyssey Touring, I recommend the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56378 which will install behind the driver's side trim panel in the rear cargo area. You will install the 10-amp mini fuse and two 7.5-amp mini fuses in the rear fuse panel. I've attached the installation details to assist.

Then for your 7-way plug with only the 4-way functions, you only need the Mighty Cord Trailer Connector Adapter # A10-7084VP. Since you won't be adding the other functions, you only need to plug in the adapter and then attach the ground wire with the ring terminal. I recommend mounting the adapter using the Curt Easy Mount Bracket # C58000.

I also recommend checking with your state laws on any legal issues you may have as some states require trailer brakes and a brake controller for trailers over certain weights.
