Recommendation For Best Choice For Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Adapter For Fifth Wheel Rails

Question:

Are there any advantages in using the curt spyder gooseneck hitch vs the curt bent plate gooseneck hitch? Will be towing a 16 ft dump trailer and just trying to figure out if the wider stance of the spyder hitch on the 5th wheel rails has any advantages.

Both the Curt Spyder Gooseneck Trailer Hitch For Fifth Wheel Rails, Item # 16085, and the Curt Above-Bed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch For Fifth Wheel Rails, Item # 16055, will work well for you.

They both have a weight capacity of 25,000-lbs and a vertical load limit of 6,250-lbs. Both options work with most industry standard fifth hitch rails like Curt, Reese, Valley, Draw-Tite, etc. One major difference is that the Spyder sits 7-1/2 inches above the rails at the highest point whereas the Above-Bed plate will sit lower with the top of the ball about 5 inches from the top of the rails.

Between the two, I would choose the one that works best with regards to the height above the rails with your dump trailer that you will be towing with your 2007 Chevrolet Silverado Classic.

I have attached some videos for you to check out.
