Should the Hitch Ball On The Reese The Goose 5th Wheel Adapter Spin
Question:
Hi...I bought this used yesterday called The Goose. I now have concerns that the ball should not be able to spin. I am sending pictures so that you can see the model that I have. Should the ball spin? Also, can you send me a picture of where the 2 chain holders should be placed on The Goose?

Thank you for the picture of your adapter! The 5th wheel to gooseneck adapter, The Goose, that you bought is part # RP58079. The hitch ball is designed to rotate to reduce binding with the gooseneck coupler.
The newer model of the Reese The Goose # RP58079 comes with built-in safety-chain loops. Since your model does not come with this feature, you can use the Reese Safety-Chain Attachment for Gooseneck Hitches # RP50223. These safety chain brackets will install on Reese, Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Valley, and Huskey 5th wheel base rails.
You will want to install these brackets on the rail closest to the tailgate. The safety-chain loops should be behind the gooseneck hitch ball so that in the event the trailer would come uncoupled, the chains will stop the trailer before it makes contact with the cab of the truck.
