Will the Pop & Lock Custom Tailgate Lock Work on a 2018 Honda Ridgeline with SmartKey
Question:
The 2018 Ridgeline has the Honda smart lock allowing you to unlock the door or in-bed trunk with the key in your pocket. Being close enough to the truck and touching the door handle in the right way will unlock the door. Would this also unlock the Pop and Lock installed on the tailgate. Im thinking it should because that similar to hitting the unlock on the remote but Id like to have you confirm it. Also, Ive seen that if you have the vehicle locked and the key in your pocket the proximity sensor will unlock the in-bed trunk. Does this work with the Pop and Lock?

The Pop & Lock Custom Tailgate Lock part # PAL8600 which is a fit for your 2018 Honda Ridgeline will work in conjunction with the factory door locks. The way it operates will depend on which side of the vehicle (passenger/driver) that you splice into the unlock/lock wires on.
For example, if you have the vehicle set to unlock the driver door when you are within 10 foot of the vehicle and you have the Pop & Lock kit spliced into the driver side door motor then the tailgate would unlock as you approach the driver side door and vice versa for the passenger side. You can also adjust in the infotainment center on your Rideline to have all of the doors unlock when you reach a certain proximity which would then in turn activate the tailgate lock/unlock.
