The Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller # TK90160 in your 2014 Ford F-150, is showing your trailer is connected but the boost feature is not engaged. Because there is no digital readout when you hit the brakes and it blows the fuse when you hit the manual override, it appears that your wiring is not correct. It sounds like there could be a bad ground and it also sounds like you may not be connected to the correct side of the brake light switch. You should be connected to the cold side which will only give power when you hit the brake pedal.
I recommend using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to check your wiring functions. If you are using wiring harness # 22292 then I recommend testing the pins for proper function to make sure the pin out of your harness is correct. I've attached some articles to assist.
